Ok, this year I am going to start a business in PC repair, I will be running it directly from my home, I don’t have a seperate office or anything like that. So what can be deducted in my taxes this year and what should I keep hold of suring the year, such as receipts, etc…? Thanks for all your help.
All "NECESSARY" expenses to run your business are deductible.
In a home office situation, you are required to clearly separate your business expenses from personal expenses. You should hang on to all the business related receipts to backup your deductions.
The home office deduction is carefully scrutinized by the IRS. As long as you have all your paperwork handy, you should be okay.

Just about any business related expenses are deductible (aside from the OIH office in home issue).
For you to claim the OIH deduction, you MUST segregate a portion of your house or at least use a Separate room PRIMARILY for Business!
Then you can deduct, based on the square footage, certain household items such as Mort interest, r/e taxes, house insurance and utilities and depreciation on that portion of the house as a business deduction.
You should seek a local tax professional to assist you further!

Things like advertising, tools, manuals, supplies and parts would be deductible. You can’t take a home office deduction.
